Lead Teacher & Assistant Qualifications

NWDC is looking for qualified individuals with a teacher's heart, a love for children, and persons who enjoys working as a Team player for the educational growth and well being of our students.

 

Background checks:

All potential employees will be checked through the FBI finger print review.

 

The following are qualifications required by the State of Michigan for all Chilscare Centers. NWDC is committed to it's employees and offers assistance to meet these qualifiactions.

 

Lead Teacher Qualifications:

Base Qualifiactions:

1. Able to work 6 hours per day

2. Be at least 19 years of age

3. Possess a High School Diploma or GED

4. Additional specific qualifications below

 

Specific Qualifications:

Lead Teachers shall meet one of the following qualifications:

a) Bachelors degree in early childhood educaton, child development or a child related field.

b) Associates degree or higher in early childhood education or development

c) Montessori credential with 480 hours of experience

d) A valid childhood associate credential (CDA) with 480 hours of experience

e) High School Diploma/GED with 12 semester hours in a child related field and 960 hours of experience

f) High School Diploma/GED with a combination of 12 semester hours and/or 18 CEU's to equal 180 clock hours with 1920 hours of experience

g) High School Diploma/GED with a combination of 6 semester hours and /or 9 CEU's to equal 90 clock hours with 3840 hours of experience

 

Additional Staff Requirements: (Required for Lead Teachers and Assistants)

Be able to pass required background clearances

Be free of communicable tuberculosis verified within 1 year of employment.

Be willing to obtain first aide and infant, child, and adult CPR training. (Paid by NWDC)

Complete 16 hours of NWDC provided additional Profession Development Hours, at seminars or online, annually as required by DHS. 

 

Able to successfully complete Center provided on-line training as follows at orientation:

(Required for Lead Teachers and Assistants)

Blood borne pathogen training, 

Infant safe sleep and shaken baby syndrome training.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Assistant Qualifications:

Base Qualifiactions:

1. Be at least 18 years of age

2. Team player

3. Able to follow directions
